Lecture or Program. This 1-1/2 to 2 hour lecture focuses on how we can be more eco-friendly and frugal in our studios and craft areas. It includes information on maintaining our tools and machines, recycling in the studio, putting scraps of all kinds to good use, internet resources for quilters, repurposing damaged quilts, salvaging favorite clothing items and unwanted fabrics, and much, much more.

Preparing Your Quilt for a Show
All Levels
This lecture or program focuses on preparing quilts for a judged show by reviewing common problems and their solutions; waving borders, quilts that won't lay flat, bad binding. We’ll review label-making and specific show requirements for marking and applying labels, filling out entry applications, choosing the correct category for your quilt, and discuss good quilt photos that accompany applications. You’ll even have a demo and hand-out on how to make a matching pillow case to protect your quilt.

Stretching the String, Program and Trunk Show
All Levels
String quilts have been made throughout American history to salvage small pieces of fabric during hard times, so this is a wonderful "green" technique. In this lecture, I will present samples of a large variety of string blocks and the countless ways to manipulate those blocks in quilt top design. I'll also show you how to use these wondedrfully versatile blocks to make traditional and contemporary quilts.

Fee and Travel Information

Programs or lectures, $100

Please add any necessary meals and travel expenses. If driving, mileage is at a rate of 50.5 cents per mile. Airfare is at the economy rate (flying out of Atlanta, GA or Greenville, SC) plus travel to and from the host airport. If an overnight stay is necessary, lodging will be required (private room and bath in a non-smoking member home, or hotel room).
