I started sewing and designing purses and doll clothes as a child after years of watching my mother sew clothing for our family. She taught me to sew with clothing patterns as a teen, and one summer I actually used a treadle machine to make most of my clothes for the school year. Besides sewing clothing and eveningwear, I also learned to knit, crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint, and tried some basic painting techniques.
In 1996, I signed up for the first of many quiltmaking classes, and I've been an avid quiltmaker ever since. Traditional quiltmaking was my first love, and in 2002 I won a blue ribbon for my first ever quilt show entry, a "Trip Around theWorld" quilt.
After attending the Houston International Quilt Festival several times, I began to explore the fiber arts--my new love. I won my first award for a quilted art piece in 2008.
Our family currently lives in Athens, Georgia, home of the University of Georgia a music mecca.
I offer private and group quilting and fiber art classes, lectures and demonstrations. Check out my Etsy shop by clicking the Store tab above. We also travel with our vendor booth from which we sell hand-dyed fabric and other handmade items for quilt shows in the southeastern U.S.
