I started sewing and designing purses and doll clothes as a child after years of watching my mother sew clothing for our family. My mother taught me to sew with clothing patterns as a teen, and one summer I actually used a treadle machine to make most of my clothes for the school year.  Besides sewing clothing and eveningwear, also learned to knit, crochet, cross stitch, and needlepoint, and learned some basic painting techniques.

In 1996, I signed up for the first of many quiltmaking classes, and I've been an avid quiltmaker ever since.  Traditional quiltmaking was my first love, and in 2002 I won a blue ribbon for my first ever quilt show entry, a "Trip Around theWorld" quilt.

After attending the Houston International Quilt Festival several times, I began to explore the fiber arts--my new love. I won my first award for a quilted art piece in 2008.

My husband Bill and I currently live in Athens, Georgia, where I offer private and group quilting and fiber art classes, lectures and demonstrations.

With my younger son in the Army, I'm a supporter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, www.qovf.org, a non-political organization committed to making quality quilts to comfort injured war veterans.
